Elena and Alioska:
Joanne Gallivan, Director of the NIH National Diabetes Education Program - NDEP is very pleased in that we will link NHMA and the HispanicHealth.info Portal to all the NDEP resources, many of them have been carefully translated with cultural and language sensitivities into Spanish. Do you need a special written permission or some instructions in how to create the link?
Thanks,
Alfonso

Good Afternoon Alfonso, Daniel & Richard:
I spoke with Elena Monday morning about her experience navigating the diabetes editorial board to post comments, and it struck me that my initial instructions may have been inadequate. So I am sending the following instructions. I hope that they are more helpful. Alfonso, Alioska Adrian at the NHMA offices will work with you to link HispanicHealth.info to the National Diabetes Education Program.
Instructions
1. You will be receiving email alerts from portal@nhmamd.org whenever someone posts a comment on the editorial board. The email content provides you with two direct links to the NHMA Diabetes Editorial Board. Double clicking on the first link will take you directly to the diabetes editorial board comment page.
2. To post a comment, you must first log into HispanicHealth.info using your username and password. You can do this be either clicking on Login tag on the lower right hand side of each comment box, or using the login feature on the left hand side column.
3. Once you are logged in, you can now post your comment in the comment box, and click on the reply button/tag on the lower right hand side of the comment box. This will take you to the reply page with a subject and comment box. Enter your comment and scroll down to the end of page to click on the blue Preview Comment button.
4. Once you preview your comment, scroll down to the bottom and click on Post Comment to post your comment.
If I can be of any assistance and if you have any suggestions for improving the experience, I can be reached on my cell at 917-549-5868 or my emiliojmorante@verizon.net.
Emilio
Good Afternoon:
As we discussed yesterday, the goal of the NHMA Editorial Board is to help us identify information sources in order to obtain diabetes and obesity related information for physicians caring for Hispanics.
I will be moderating this site with the assistance of David Caicedo throughout the month of August. Alioska will also be a part of the site management focusing more on technical end i.e. posting, uploading etc. Per your guidance we will be gathering and posting information, following-up on any matters requested, and moving the discussion along. As you provide us with sources and links we will work to organize and post the information and share our ideas with you.
We discussed organizing information along four categories: nutrition, prevention, medical management, and model programs.
Dr. Vargas has offered to link the portal to the CDC Diabetes Education Program.
Dr. Hellman recommended that Dr. Rios reach out to doctors Juan Carlos Guzman, Carlos Aguilar, Jorge Mesmen, and Lois Schivanowitz. Richard I am assuming will need to share the contact information. PS: please correct any misspellings.
Feel free to include any missing items we may have covered.
